It's easier to draw on paper than on fabric.
With these markers, you can draw on regular paper, then place the drawn side of the design face down on the fabric and iron it, and the color will transfer. Remember that the design will then be a mirror image of what you drew.
There are many exciting ways these markers can be used.
On natural materials, the transfer is temporary; on polyester, it becomes permanent.
The iron temperature must be at least 180 degrees Celsius.
This means you can use it to decorate and upgrade polyester clothes with your own drawings (and you can draw over things you print out or copy, etc.), but you can also use it as a temporary way to mark embroidery or sashiko patterns!
What you have drawn can be transferred more than once, so if you, for example, want to sew the same pattern or motif multiple times, you can draw it once and then iron it over where you want to embroider multiple times. Incredibly practical.
In the pictures, you can see fabric pieces that have been washed and not washed at 40 degrees Celsius. It should withstand up to 60, but polyester is usually washed at 40. You can see that on the cotton test swatches, the drawing is almost gone, but not entirely. Keep this in mind when using it to transfer patterns for embroidery. (I haven't yet had a chance to test washing multiple times). On polyester, I see no difference before and after 1 wash.
In the last picture, with 5 bluebells on the light pink fabric, you see an example of the same drawing transferred 5 times. The motif becomes slightly weaker with each transfer. But the stronger the heat you use, and if you iron longer, the stronger the color will be.
A personal recommendation after some testing is to first transfer to a test swatch with slightly lower heat and for a short time to remove "excess" color from the drawing, and then increase the heat and iron longer to get a nice motif on what you want it on.
NB! POLYESTER MELTS! For example, place a thin cotton fabric between the iron and the paper and the fabric/garment, to avoid melting the fabric. This also protects the iron from color.
On textiles with a mix of natural fibers and polyester, the color will be weaker than on pure polyester. You can also combine drawing and embroidery. For example, color in a motif and embroider some details or outlines.
I have only tested the set of 24 pieces so far, so those are the ones I have my own pictures of; the other pictures for the other variants are from the manufacturer, Kearing.
All are from Kearing, so they function similarly but come with slightly different packaging and designs.
The tip is slanted, 3.5mm wide.
