Visible Repair, philosophy and practice - webinar week 2
This is a lecture about Eva's journey into the world of repair, in parallel with her quitting her job in fast fashion, starting to work for the ethical startup Fair & Square as a designer and pattern maker, and hitting a wall. Eva then started the company My Visible Mend to be able to work full-time inspiring people to repair.
You will get an introduction to the connection between production conditions, price, willingness to repair, and how visible repair lays a foundation that can solve problems in many different parts of the textile industry. Eva also discusses how mass production and overconsumption affect our own psyche and how repair can help us discover and fight to preserve what society's economy often does not consider valuable.

Introduction to visible repair - webinar weeks 7 and 8
You will learn about different types of needles, threads, and what suits what; we will look at stabilization and other aids, show how to avoid common "mistakes," and practice some practical stitches for everyday repairs.
Darning with and without a darning apparatus - webinar 9 and 10
You will learn about darning on different materials, variations of the technique, tips for making it neat, reinforcement before holes appear, and we will darn with and without a darning apparatus.
Traditional patching - Webinar week 11
A neat patch with neat folded edges, just like my great-aunt used to do it. You will learn not only to patch on top, but to insert a patch into a woven garment.
Introduction to Sashiko - webinar weeks 12, 13 and 14
You will learn a little about the history of sashiko and the culture it comes from. We will practice the unshin stitching technique (with a thimble in the palm of your hand), sew a sample patch that combines a couple of sashiko types, and finally practice drawing a couple of classic patterns with the help of templates we cut out.
Learn embroidery with a wildflower project bag - webinar weeks 15, 16 and 17
You will learn about stabilizing different materials for embroidery, transferring motifs, and 11 different stitches you can use to decorate your clothes and textiles. We will practice on a printed bag where the motif consists of all the different stitches we learn. If you don't have a bag, you can practice the stitches with us if you have a needle, thread, fabric, embroidery hoop, and something to draw lines on the fabric with.
Mend the world - Mend for Palestine - webinar weeks 18, 19 and 20
In the product series Mend The World, we have launched Mend For Palestine where you will learn everything from unpicking seams, sewing on patches, sashiko, cross-stitch with various techniques for transferring the motif, and more. You will thus use some of all the knowledge you have gained so far (or jump in and learn a little of everything) and sew Palestine-inspired motifs using techniques such as sashiko, patching, and embroidery. You will also learn to sew cross-stitch, which we have not done yet, and several practical stitches.

Trudde dette skulle vere ein tutorial/opplæring i reparasjon med sashiko, men det var i staden ein introduksjon i historia til sashiko.

Takk for at du har handlet hos meg. Webinaropptaket inneholder en introduksjon til historien til Sashiko i tilleg til tutorial /opplæring. Det er opptak av 3 webinar, og den første halvdelen av det første opptaket gir historisk og kulturell kontekst. Senere i opptaket blir det mer fokus på teknikk.
Det burde være tidsmarkører på opptakene så det er lettere å navigere, og det har jeg dessverre ikke fått gjort, men det står høyt på prioriteringslisten, det er bare altfor mye annet jeg har måttet gjøre det siste året.
Håper du tar deg tid til å hoppe litt frem i opptaket og får nytte av det du finner der :)

Lærerikt, lett forståelig og grundig. Og ikke minst hyggelig.
Veldig glad for dette webinaret – det gjorde en stor forskjell å få se hvordan stingene faktisk utføres. Instruksjonsboken alene var litt krevende, så dette var akkurat det jeg trengte. Et lite tips kan være å legge inn tidsmarkører for de ulike stingene. Takk for et flott og inspirerende kurs.

Jeg har ikke rukket det ennå, men håper å inspirere andre til å gjøre ting selv når man ikke får til å få det slik som man egentlig vil. Når det er flere enn meg i bedriften så blir flere ting bedre.

Mye bra, men kunne vært kortere. Syns det holder med èn måte å gjøre det på når prosjektet er såpass stort. Vis det som fungerer best. Vi trenger ikke å lære alt på en gang.
På svart pose er det vanskelig å se stingene på malen når malen er klistret på, spesielt når stingene går oppå rutenettet. Stingene med tykk tråd bør merkes med markeringspenn før man begynner å sy. Hadde vært nyttig med bilde av de tykke stingene på olivenbladmotivet.
På korssting bør hvert fargefelt rammes inn med feks. kulepenn slik at man lett ser avgrensningen før sying.
Så er det viktig å ta ett hull om gangen når hullene er så tett. Lettere å treffe godt da. Havnet utenfor raden før jeg hadde skjønt dette.

Alle disse kurspakkene er i stadig utvikling, så det er veldig verdifullt at du tar deg tid til å svare så utdypende. Det tar nok litt tid til vi får oppdatert ting, men det er i planene fremover!
