I also recommend using beeswax when sewing with this, it helps the metallic part slide through the fabric more easily without breaking. When sewing with this, you should expect a bit more waste than with regular thread; the last 2-5 cm of each length you use will probably have to be cut off because the threads tend to separate a bit while you sew.
I also recommend using these primarily for decorative purposes and not on areas exposed to a lot of friction, such as jean knees, to prevent the metallic thread from wearing out.
It works well as decorative and reinforcing elements on clothing and interiors that are not exposed to extreme wear and tear like knees and elbows.
One skein is 20 meters long.
