The book is a collection from the Royal School of Needlework series, thoroughly covering various embroidery techniques. One of the books in the series, Whitework, is available in the online store here.
Each book is condensed, mainly through smaller images and more efficient use of space on the pages, so this book contains all the information found in the other individual books.

It provides guidance for

Crewelwork

Blackwork

Whitework

Silk Shading

Stumpwork

Bead embroidery

Canvaswork

Goldwork

It places each technique in a historical context, while also showing how it can be used in more modern ways today. You can choose to delve into certain techniques, or learn a little from the different ones and combine and experiment inspired by stitches and techniques from the book. Each section covers preferred materials, needles, fabric, how to transfer patterns, etc. If you love embroidery and want to develop your skills and creativity, this is a fantastic reference work and a good guide, where you learn the completely historical and "correct" traditional methods, but you are then free to use it as you wish. Embroidery is a great way to decorate, repair, and upgrade clothes and textiles and add value to what you own. At the same time, learning more about it can make you appreciate embroidery more on things you already own or find in second-hand shops, etc.
