Tambouring is a method of embroidery where chain stitches are made on the top or underside of the fabric with a hook that is relatively similar to latch hooks, but with a sharp point to penetrate the fabric. It can be used for embroidery with thread or also for bead embroidery, for example.

It's a new technique to learn and can be a bit difficult without a stand to hold the embroidery, but once you get started, it's a faster embroidery technique than with an ordinary needle and thread.
NB: Not suitable for all fabrics; they should preferably be woven and not too dense or thick so that the hook can pass through the fabric without damaging it.
