High-quality embroidery floss from Olympus Japan.
We find this embroidery thread to be shinier and smoother / less linty than DMC, which is also considered high quality. Olympus stranded cotton is also colorfast and a very good alternative for your embroidery projects.
The images are in the same order as in the dropdown menu. When you select from the menu, the image of the color you have chosen will appear. We will eventually add color numbers to the images themselves.
Olympus has fewer colors than DMC, so it's not always possible to find exact matches for existing patterns you have that use DMC. However, please contact us if you have questions about specific color codes, and we can compare the color charts to see if we can find what you need.
For embroidery and repairing clothes with embroidery thread, I recommend cutting the desired length and then splitting the thread so that the thickness matches what you are repairing. If you use very thick thread on a thin fabric, you risk creating holes and wear at the transition between the embroidery/repair and the rest of the garment. Embroidery thread consists of 6 strands twisted together into a thick thread. You can therefore use anywhere from 1 to 6 strands for your sewing. For wool underwear, 2 strands are often quite suitable.
