Complete kits for making sashiko patterned coasters, or for use as patches on clothing.
Each pack now includes a needle, thread, palm thimble, and fabric with a pattern to make 5 coasters with folded edges. The print washes out; be careful not to iron the fabric before it has been washed, as the print may become permanent!
Currently, we only have Japanese instructions, but the illustrations are the most important part. Please send a customer message or a message to My Visible Mend's Facebook page (or in the group) if you need more guidance! One of the most important things is always to look for the straight lines you can sew, across and diagonally, which will eventually form the pattern.
The patches can be attached to the outside or inside of holes or worn areas. If you use them on the inside, secure them with long basting stitches using sewing thread, safety pins, or a glue pen, with the print facing you so you can see it, then sew straight through so the thread forms the pattern on the front.
Search for sashiko on YouTube for some good help! There are also dedicated sashiko groups on Facebook, for example.
