Vliesofix is a thin adhesive sheet, well-suited for appliqués and also mending!
Use low to medium heat on the iron.
Place the sheet on the fabric you want to create a patch from, with the adhesive side down and the paper facing up.
Press without steam for about 5 seconds.
Draw your desired motif on the paper side (NOTE: mirror image!), cut it out, and remove the paper.
Place the fabric/patch where you want the appliqué and iron again, with steam, for about 8-10 seconds. You may want to sew a tight zigzag stitch around the raw edge of the patch, or use another edge stitch, by machine or by hand, for extra durability (and decoration).
You can also draw the motif before ironing. The paper is transparent, so you can trace figures, shapes, and letters, for example. But don't forget they need to be mirror images!
If you draw first, it's still a good idea to iron a larger piece than just the motif itself, so that when you cut out the patch, you cut through a layer of adhesive/paper, thus getting the adhesive all the way to the edges of the fabric so it adheres better.
The panda patches in the picture are made using this technique. They are motifs from bedding. Here, you just cut along the motif! Perhaps you have some nice fabrics with motifs at home that could become lovely appliqué patches?
