If you're going to repair and alter clothes, a good seam ripper is a great joy.
There are seam rippers that bend when they encounter threads, and then there are good seam rippers that cut through seams like a dream.

This one is like that.

Unpicking clothes doesn't have to be a tricky, time-consuming job. With a good seam ripper, it's quick. This is necessary for some adaptations and adjustments, and it simplifies the work if you need to mend, patch, or embroider in hard-to-reach places, like elbows and knees.

The sharp point is great for making the first opening in the seam. After that, you turn the seam ripper around and stick the red ball into the seam. The ball pushes the fabric apart so the blade can cut the thread. This way, you don't unpick one stitch at a time but can cut through several centimeters at once. Even overlock seams become manageable this way.

It's important, of course, to experiment and practice a bit so you don't cut through the fabric. Thin chiffon fabric might not be suitable for this method, but if you're working with linen, cotton, denim, slightly thick sweatpants, woven wool, and similar fabrics, it's very effective.

The seam ripper is large and comfortable to hold.

This seam ripper also has a thread remover on the cap. The rubber ridges can be brushed over the seam to sweep away all the short thread bits you've cut. It's also great for quickly and easily brushing away lint that has accumulated in the folds of seams on clothes you're fixing before sewing them back together.

A good seam ripper can truly be what helps you overcome the initial hurdle when you're upgrading clothes for yourself and your loved ones.
