This design can be embroidered by anyone, but it is designed with the idea that it can be a nice collaborative project for adults and children. An adult can embroider the roots, trunk, and branches, then a child (and possibly also one or more adults) can embroider the leaves. In this way, the child experiences a sense of accomplishment from the very first stitch, and the tree can become a lovely keepsake. If multiple children are embroidering, they can each use a different leaf color.
The kit includes:
- 1 pattern sheet on Solufix (dissolves in water), 14.5 x 14.5 cm
- Instructions (includes an illustration that can be copied, scaled up, and traced multiple times)
- Mouline thread, 4 skeins (colors may vary slightly from the embroideries in the pictures)
- Needle
- Embroidery hoop 15 cm
NB: The kit does not include fabric! Embroider on a garment, tote bag, cushion, scrap fabric, or fabric you purchase elsewhere.
If you want to try out embroidery, or know someone who does, this is a great kit to start with. You can use plain Soluvlies, Solufix, or carbon paper to trace the design multiple times once you have used up the printed Solufix. More information on how to do this can be found in the instructions.
